The state government announced the formation of a state-level coordination committee, following recommendations from the National Testing Agency (NTA), to ensure smooth and transparent conduct of national exams such as JEE Main, NEET, UGC-NET, and CUET.
Additionally, district-level coordination committees will be set up to address challenges related to exam malpractices and ensure a flawless examination process across the state. The state higher and technical education department made the announcement through a government resolution (GR) issued on Friday.
The NTA, an autonomous body under the Union Ministry of Education, conducts various national-level exams across India. These exams are held at designated centers nationwide, and the newly formed state and district committees are expected to support the NTA in conducting these exams seamlessly.
The state-level coordination committee, led by the Commissioner of the State Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell, will include a nodal officer appointed by the Chief Secretary, representatives from the police, NTA officials, and officers from the Subsidiary Intelligence Bureau and the State NIC.
The committee’s key responsibilities include establishing a hotline between the Chief Minister, Director General of Police (DGP), and NTA, ensuring secure paper routes, and developing strategies to maintain the integrity of exams. The committee will also review district-level performance post-exams and submit reports to NTA with suggestions for improvements.
The District Magistrate will head the district-level coordination committee, which will comprise local police heads, educational officers, NTA appointees, and Intelligence Bureau and NIC representatives. This committee will oversee the selection of exam centres, conduct background checks, and ensure appropriate facilities, including for differently-abled candidates.
The committee will also ensure secure transport for exam materials including question-papers, ensure proper sealing of centres before exams, establish CCTV surveillance at each center and maintain law and order during the exam process.
