You’ll need to change your plans if you were going to head to the Rideau Canal for a skate Monday afternoon.

All skating on the Rideau Canal Skateway will be paused as of 8 a.m. Monday, until further notice, to protect the ice during an expected warm spell, the National Capital Commission announced Sunday.

People will still be allowed to use the Skateway walking areas, the NCC said.

The daytime high temperature is forecast by Environment Canada to climb above 0 C from Monday through Thursday. The daytime high is to be -3 C on Friday, but is only to be 0 C on Saturday.
