Gujarat local body polls: In Surat, BJP wins by margin of 7k votes in Ward 18 | Ahmedabad News

In the by-election on a single seat in Ward no 18 of Surat Municipal Corporation, BJP candidate Jitubhai Kachhad won with a margin of over 7,000 votes.

Out of the 33,332 votes cast, BJP candidate Kachhad got 17,359, Congress candidate Sunil Ramanandi got 10,273, and AAP candidate Suraj Ahir secured 1,917. AIMIM candidate Abdul Razak Shah got 2,618 votes.

The single seat in Ward 18 went to the polls following the death of three-term BJP councilor Germar Desai in March last year.

The counting of votes was done at Maharashi Astik High School in Godadara on Tuesday morning.
