Friday’s episode of the ITV soap saw April return to the village
On Friday’s episode of the hit ITV soap, Emmerdale viewers saw April begin to open up about her experiences living on the streets, as she revealed more details about the father of her baby. Last night’s (Thursday, February 6) intense scenes saw April in hospital, recovering from giving birth in a gym toilet. In a heartbreaking turn of events, she soon realised her baby was stillborn.
The teenager fled the village on Christmas day last year, but she returned to screens on Tuesday in a special standalone episode. Emmerdale fans were taken back to witness April’s heartbreaking time on the streets, shown through distressing scenes in Leeds city centre.
In Thursday’s episode, Marlon was attempting to comfort his daughter in hospital. But the concerned dad was shocked to hear April say she didn’t want to go back home. Lied in her hospital bed, April said: “You hardly ever noticed me unless I was drunk.”
But on Friday (February 7), viewers saw April arrive back in the village, driven home by Marlon who said: “Finally, you’re home.” A relieved Marlon and Rhona attempted to make the teenager feel comfortable back at home, but instead April felt overwhelmed and had to leave the house “to get some air.”
The reason why April went missing last year was to escape her family, who lied about how April’s mum Donna had died. Later in the episode on Friday, Ross found her visiting her mother’s grave.
Comforting April, Ross said: “She really loved you, you know. You meant everything to her.” She opened up to Ross, who said he was glad she was back in the village.
However, April said: “I didn’t come back, they brought me back.” April went on to tell him about her pregnancy: “I lost her, she was a girl.”
She asked him: “Was it awful, I didn’t even want her?” Ross asked about the baby’s dad, as April said: “It was a lad I met at a party, he made me laugh and I liked that, but I didn’t even know his name.”
Emmerdale fans were glad to see April open up to someone, as she failed to communicate her feelings to her dad Marlon. Taking to social media, one viewer said: “Love Ross & April’s bond”, while another added: “I’m really glad he’s there for April.”
Meanwhile, Marlon confided in Bob about his concerns about April and the horrors she experienced while living on the streets. He said: “She’s my girl, I was supposed to protect her and I failed.” Later in the episode, his worries began to increase because April had not yet returned home.
He said to Rhona: “She needs to feel like we trust her, otherwise we’ll end up pushing her away.” Soon after, April came back home, with Ross just behind her.
Marlon expressed his jealous feelings to Rhona, as his daughter had opened up to Ross, rather than him. But Emmerdale fans were starting to make their own predictions about how the rest of the storyline is set to pan out.
Hoping to find out who is responsible for April’s baby, one viewer said: “I think April knows who the dad is” Another added: “I can’t wait for April’s new friend Dylan to arrive in the village at some point. I’m convinced he’s linked to Ross in some way.”
