Woman booked for beating up 3-year-old son with pipe: Mumbai police | Mumbai News

A 25-year-old woman was booked for allegedly beating up her three-year-old son with a pipe, Ghatkopar police said Tuesday.

The woman’s husband claimed that she allegedly beat up her son after having a fight with him over not taking her out for sightseeing, police said.

The incident happened on January 26 when the the accused woman and her husband, who works as a driver with a cab aggregator, were at their Ghatkopar residence.

The woman asked her husband to take the family out for sightseeing. The husband in his statement told the police that he told his wife that he does not have the money at that point and that they can out a few days later.

The duo got into an argument due following which the husband left for work.

Around 4 pm the same day, as he was driving his cab at Bandra-Kurla Complex, he received a call from his neighbours saying that his wife was beating his three-year-old son with a pipe used for water taps, police said.

The husband returned home to find his son crying with injury marks over his body. He rushed the boy to the Rajawadi hospital where the child was given treatment.

After the hospital informed the police, officers from the local Ghatkopar police station reached the spot and recorded the husband’s statement following which they registered an FIR against the wife.

The police team found that the woman had gone to her relative’s place in Ambernath following which a team went there and brought her to the Ghatkopar police station.

An officer said that they were in the process of recording her statement following which they will likely arrest her.

The woman has been charged under sections related to voluntarily causing hurt by using dangerous weapons and cruelty towards a child by those who have control over him/her under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
