(NewsNation) — State authorities have confirmed a nine-year-old girl is dead after she went missing from Lake George, New York.

Melina Galanis Frattolin, a Canadian resident, was located by authorities in Ticonderoga, New York, on Sunday.

“Due to jurisdictional considerations, the Warren County Sheriff’s Office has turned the investigation over to the New York State Police,” ” New York State Police said in part of a statement. “At this time, there is no indication that an abduction occurred, and there is no threat to the public.”

Frattolin was last seen Saturday night around 9:40 p.m. EST in a white van on I-87 southbound near Exit 22 in Lake George, according to the Warren County Sheriff’s Office.

They added that she was taken under circumstances that led them to believe that Frattolin was in imminent danger of serious bodily harm or death.

An Amber Alert had been issued hours prior to Frattolin’s body being discovered.
