The Minnesota Vikings nearly took the NFC North title away from the Detroit Lions in 2024.
Now, heading into the 2025 NFL Draft, they will have to answer some questions and fill a few holes in the roster in order to get back to that point.
That will start with figuring out their quarterback situation, where Sam Darnold left for the Seattle Seahawks, and J.J. McCarthy – for now – is expected to be the starter. That said, they are unlikely to spend a first round pick on that position.
So where else can the Vikings look? Let’s examine the three best fits for Minnesota with the No. 24 overall in Round 1.

Malaki Starks, SAF, Georgia
Georgia’s Malaki Starks has been one of the most popular first-round picks for the Vikings throughout the entire pre-draft process, and for good reason.
Starks is listed as a safety, and the No. 1 prospect at that position, but can play multiple positions in the secondary. He is also a tremendous fit in what Brian Flores wants to do on defense.
Shavon Revel Jr., CB, East Carolina
The Vikings are in serious need of cornerback helpheading into the draft, and while the top prospects such as Jahdae Barron and Will Johnson will likely be gone by this point, there will still be talent available.
East Carolina’s Shavon Revel Jr. could be that guy.
Standing 6-foot-3 and 190 pounds, Revel is arguably the most physically gifted corner of the top players at the position, and has a nose for the the ball. He is coming off of a season-ending injury a season ago, otherwise he would likely go even higher than 24.
Grey Zabel, IOL, North Dakota State
This might not be the sexiest pick of the bunch, but the Vikings need some offensive line help on the interior, and North Dakota State’s Grey Zable could be the answer.
He should be available at this spot and can play any position along the interior. He ranks as the No. 2 interior lineman in the class behind Donovan Jackson.
