26 dogs removed from Chicago Lawn home – NBC Chicago

Animal control officers rescued a total of 26 dogs from a property in the Chicago Lawn neighborhood on the city’s Southwest Side on Friday afternoon, authorities said.

Chicago Animal Care and Control responded to the property on West 65th Place near South Spaulding Avenue after police received a call about animal cruelty, according to law enforcement. Officers arrived at the home and observed multiple dogs in the backyard, including one animal that appeared to have been injured, police said.

A spokesperson for Chicago Animal Care and Control said the agency assisted Chicago police at the scene and removed a total of 26 dogs from the property.

“Due to the nature of the case, we are limited in the details we can share in order to protect the integrity of any potential investigation,” the spokesperson stated.

As of Friday night, detectives were continuing to investigate. No arrests had been made.
